A New Year

Audrey has been doing well! She enjoyed Christmas break and all of the traditions and fun the season brings.  At the end of the month, Audrey will see a team of doctors to address the issues in her mouth. Our prayer is that these issues might be fixed with time. Overall Audrey is happy and comfortable with little irritations. We are so thankful for the progress she has made and is making with all she has been through. God's presence has kept us afloat. There are continual ways we hear His voice; through His word, messages, sermons, and friends. It is amazing how He uses people to reveal himself to us.  In the future, all posts will be posted to this blog. We will no longer use Facebook as platform to share information. thank you for praying along with us.

Praises

This past Monday, Audrey had quite a long day of appointments down at Children's. She started with scans, a check up, and finally her eyelash removal. Overall the day was smooth and Audrey did great with everything! The eyelashes that were hitting her eye were removed and the hope is that this procedure will eliminate eye irritation. So far, we have seen positive changes and little to no eye irritation.  Audrey's scans revealed no cancer! This is a huge praise. We praise God for these results and are so thankful for His presence, and how His word has been such a gift. Thank you to all of you who read these posts and continue to pray over Audrey. We know our Joy comes from the Lord. This life brings many frustrations and unanswered questions, but our joy doesn't depend on that. It is truly our hope for what is yet to come. Eternal life in heaven and we can rest in God's promise.  " he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. H...

Our Hope Is in Jesus

Yesterday morning we were able to go down to a specialist to have a consult to see if there is an intervention to help close the hole in Audrey's mouth. Audrey had a template made of her upper palette to see if a removable piece, much like a retainer, can be made that will help close the hole. With the extensive surgeries Audrey has been through, placing a retainer in her mouth is difficult, due to the size of her mouth, teeth remaining and the fact that her mouth would continue to grow and new adjustments would need to be made as needed. So we have things to consider and pray over.  Audrey will have some eyelashes removed this Monday. This should help some of the irriation in her left eye. On a lighter note, Audrey turned 7 this past weekend! She enjoyed her morning at church with her friends/church family, a special dinner of happy meals (her request!) and received a play guinea pig that has babies 💚 Audrey is doing well at school and is continuing to thrive. We can give all thi...

His Mercies Are New

One of our close friends from church has been walking us through an amazing study he has named, the Genealogy of Jesus. This study has convicted us to dive into our Bibles even more so and with that, God speaks in ways that allow us to know Him much more deeply.  We put our trust in our savior, Jesus. When we are going through the old testament as we look at the various trials humanity goes through (still going through) the need for a savior is clear. With that said, our point is that life can be tough. And in the midst of the joy, happiness and sorrows, the only thing that is constant is, Jesus. Our hearts are set on Him, and this helps us to manage the feelings; it is a daily discipline. "Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’” Luke 9:23. With all of that said, it is important to us that God's truth is conveyed through these posts. For he is the way, the truth and the life. And without...

One Brave Girl

God's word teaches us that this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice.  These are important verses to hold on to, because in the world we live in, we encounter battles big and small. It is very easy to look at the things that are wrong. That is our nature, right? There have been many times where rather than focusing on what is good and true, the focus becomes the unknown, the fears, the unanswered questions. It is in these moments that biblical truth, biblical authority, is so vital. As a result of Audrey's surgery fall 2021, there have been ongoing issues with her mouth and eye. We pursued another mouth surgery September 2022 in an effort to close the hole, knowing it might not be successful, our hopes were high, but the hole is back. It is smaller and only time will tell what will come of it. It feels like a defeat, but again, rather than trying to understand why, we can rest in the fact that we serve ...

Finally some bread!

This morning Audrey had her follow up from her mouth surgery. Doctor said everything looks pretty good. We will have another visit in about 3 months to see how things are continuing to heal. We continue to pray that the holes would close up entirely in her mouth. We have already seen positive changes with Audrey's speech.   The doctor gave the okay for Audrey to broaden her eating. So she was super excited to stop and get a breakfast sandwich on her way to school :-) it's the little things right? Audrey has really been through a lot in her almost 7 years of life, and with all of the difficult things we have seen God's hand in it all. God's grace is evident in so many ways. A friend sent us this verse the other day, and it is reassuring and comforting. Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd:     He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart;     he gently leads those that have young. Praying God uses our lives to lead us in ways th...

Surgery

Audrey's surgery went well today. Her surgeon said everything went as good as he had hoped for. He was able to close up the 2 perforations in her mouth and our hope is that they will stay closed. We thank God for these results. Audrey will have a 2 week liquid diet in order for everything to heal properly. We will see the doctor in about 2 weeks.  Audrey continues to thrive. She is strong and so optimistic. She has become a pro at riding her bike and enjoys longer bike rides up and down our road as a family. She is going to be starting first grade in the coming weeks, so much to look forward to. These events like surgeries and such can leave us feeling anxious and uncertain about what is best. We do feel this was the right direction to go based on our observations and the guidance of her doctors. We continue lift it all up to Jesus. We know these things are temporary and we will eventually be made new. We know that in the midst of our thoughts, we can take them captive; we can thin...
