One Brave Girl

God's word teaches us that this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice.

These are important verses to hold on to, because in the world we live in, we encounter battles big and small. It is very easy to look at the things that are wrong. That is our nature, right? There have been many times where rather than focusing on what is good and true, the focus becomes the unknown, the fears, the unanswered questions. It is in these moments that biblical truth, biblical authority, is so vital.

As a result of Audrey's surgery fall 2021, there have been ongoing issues with her mouth and eye. We pursued another mouth surgery September 2022 in an effort to close the hole, knowing it might not be successful, our hopes were high, but the hole is back. It is smaller and only time will tell what will come of it. It feels like a defeat, but again, rather than trying to understand why, we can rest in the fact that we serve a God who is in control and that is enough.

Audrey's eye does drain constantly throughout the day. After a recent Opthalmology appointment, we learned most of her eye lashes are back and are running against the eye, but thankfully not against the cornea. There are always positives and negatives, but there is a lot of unexpected things from the surgery. There are short term and long term options with her eye, so we ask for prayer, wisdom and patience as we pursue these things. And thank you for that :)

With all of that said, we have to remind ourselves daily in obedience of what we focus on. Audrey is doing so well. She is happy and plays and plays and plays. She is loving her dolls, her bike and building forts. And that is such a gift. Remember to be thankful and give praise to God. Because He is so Good.

Eternal Perspective

We have officially returned from Michigan and we were incredibly thankful for this time together as a family. Overall Audrey had a good time. Audrey has dealt with some bleeding over the last few weeks around the tumor site. We have added some medical intervention, which seems to help. She is also dealing with some difficulty sleeping. Hospice care will now make weekly visits with the advancement of the tumor. Audrey's overall energy has decreased quite significantly over the last week. She still enjoys order and her schedule :)  Audrey is still pain free, so we can rejoice in that. She is eating and drinking normally, another praise. We are fixing are minds and hearts on Christ Jesus, remembering this is all very temporary. Death is something we will all experience and for those who know and love Jesus as the personal savior will experience the ultimate peace in eternity with Him.  It is important to us as followers of Christ that we highlight this truth because we have...

He is With You

About a month has passed since our last update-Audrey continues to do well despite daily challenges. The cancer is continuing to spread, unfortunately this is something we can see visually. The tumor is now covering nearly her entire left eye and continues to grow outward. Audrey has not complained to this day. Her strength is inspiring to say the least.  Audrey will have another nasal endoscopy this upcoming Tuesday. We are thankful this will likely relieve her sinuses. We are still under the impression nothing can be done externally. Palliative care has visited to simply put eyes on Audrey. We have been incredibly thankful she continues to have no pain. We have even visited with a social worker who has helped make a meaningful craft to build memories. Audrey continues to play outside, make beautiful drawings, go on walks, rest with Coco, read books on the couch, play Zelda and Mario Cart with her sisters and the list goes on. SO thankful for that. We have decided to pursue ...

Jesus remains the same 💛

On June 17th, we learned that the cancer Audrey has been battling for 5 years remains, this is after 2 years of chemo, 2 courses of radiation and local surgeries to remove it.  At this point her team has said there are no curative options. Chemotherapy and radiation could possibly slow the process down, but would likely pose more issues than help. Another extensive surgery could also slow down the process, but would only further complicate Audrey's eye and nose issues. We have decided to let Audrey enjoy life without intense medical intervention. We have had some tough decisions these last few weeks, and have cried tears, but have also been at peace with the fact Audrey's faith in Christ is strong. She has even spoken about heaven and our perfect bodies 💛 Audrey has been full of energy, playing, eating well and enjoying life as an 8 year old. While we don't know exactly what the future holds or the timeline, we will rest in the fact that Jesus is the same yesterday, today ...
