Finally some bread!

This morning Audrey had her follow up from her mouth surgery. Doctor said everything looks pretty good. We will have another visit in about 3 months to see how things are continuing to heal. We continue to pray that the holes would close up entirely in her mouth. We have already seen positive changes with Audrey's speech.   The doctor gave the okay for Audrey to broaden her eating. So she was super excited to stop and get a breakfast sandwich on her way to school :-) it's the little things right? Audrey has really been through a lot in her almost 7 years of life, and with all of the difficult things we have seen God's hand in it all. God's grace is evident in so many ways. A friend sent us this verse the other day, and it is reassuring and comforting. Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd:     He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart;     he gently leads those that have young. Praying God uses our lives to lead us in ways th...

Surgery

Audrey's surgery went well today. Her surgeon said everything went as good as he had hoped for. He was able to close up the 2 perforations in her mouth and our hope is that they will stay closed. We thank God for these results. Audrey will have a 2 week liquid diet in order for everything to heal properly. We will see the doctor in about 2 weeks.  Audrey continues to thrive. She is strong and so optimistic. She has become a pro at riding her bike and enjoys longer bike rides up and down our road as a family. She is going to be starting first grade in the coming weeks, so much to look forward to. These events like surgeries and such can leave us feeling anxious and uncertain about what is best. We do feel this was the right direction to go based on our observations and the guidance of her doctors. We continue lift it all up to Jesus. We know these things are temporary and we will eventually be made new. We know that in the midst of our thoughts, we can take them captive; we can thin...

Surgery Scheduled

Audrey's mouth surgery has been scheduled for August 30th. The goal of this surgery is to close up 2 tiny perforations in Audrey's mouth and address some exposed bone near the front of her mouth. August 30th is the soonest they could get her in, and there is a chance she may have surgery sooner if there were to be a cancellation.  With that said, we are thankful Audrey will have some time to heal before school starts and our hope is that this surgery will resolve these issues. Audrey continues to do very well. It is a blessing to see her strength continue to persist. She is running faster, growing taller and is on happy gal :)

Another Follow Up

Audrey has been doing very well overall. She has been regaining strength and energy post chemotherapy. Her little personality is shining through. We are thankful for her continued optimistic attitude through the ongoing follow ups and the side effects post surgery/radiation. Audrey had another follow up today with the opthamologist. Her vision in her left eye has improved significantly. Audrey's vision is great and prescription lenses were recommended for school and as much as Audrey would like to wear them. We are so thankful for this result. As for ENT, Audrey has two perforations and exposed bone in her mouth from surgery this past fall. We had been watching this over the past several months to see how they would change and heal. They are very small, but do affect her speech and eating (stuff going up in the nasal passage occasionally). We will  pursue getting these issues fixed, but there isn't a guarantee it will work long term (the concern being they will continue to open...

Our Deliverer

Audrey ended up having her post treatment scans this past Wednesday due to some scheduling issues. Audrey was a champ and sat still the entire time for her scans. After looking at the radiology report, Audrey's scans showed no recurrent mass. This is a huge praise and answered prayer! We are thankful Audrey was able to attend her last day of school and graduate kindergarten. Audrey had an amazing teacher who recognized her hard work and optimistic attitude throughout this past year. She received the "sweetest smile" award. Audrey was able to conquer her academic milestones, and we are so proud of her. Audrey has quite the testimony and we are thankful for how God has been there through it all and how he has displayed his grace in every step of the way. Thank you for praying alongside us over this past year. We continue to pray over Audrey and her healing. Blessed to have her as our daughter. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer    my God is my rock, in whom I...

Follow Up

Audrey had a follow up appointment with the opthamologist this afternoon and everything is looking to be heading in the right direction. We are able to eliminate and even decrease some of the eye drops! Audrey has been doing everything with ease and is often the one reminding us when her drops are due :) Audrey's vision is improving and with the coming weeks, should continue to improve. We can already see positive changes. Thank you so much for praying over this for her. Her vision will be assessed again early July. For now, Audrey will continue to wear her "fashion glasses" to help protect her eyes. Audrey will have post treatment scans next week. We have seen God's goodness in the everyday. In the picnic under the tree, in the smiles while enjoying ice cream and bubbles, in the cuddles and laughter. God is good.

cataract surgery completed

Audrey had her cataract removed this afternoon. Her surgeon said everything went well and he will see Audrey again tomorrow morning for a follow up. Audrey was a champion. She wasn't able to eat the entire morning/afternoon and did so well with it all-Eye drops, surgery, wake up, all went smoothly. Thankful for the strength that comes from Christ. We had an array of emotions leading up to this surgery. Praying this would help Audrey and not be another "thing" to add to the list of stuff she has been through, especially over the past year. What we always come back to is God's truth. We trust in him and lean not on our own understanding. There is power in truth. Even when our human thoughts can cloud our minds, we don't stay there. We are thankful Jesus is in our hearts, always the same, never changes. That constant is what grounds us. Hope in eternity, we have that hope. Thank you for praying with us. Life can be tough. Continually seeking God's word for growth...
