Next Part of the Journey

We have been home for over a week now and it has been such a gift. The kids were quick to get back into a routine and we enjoyed the beautiful weather this past weekend. Much to be thankful for.

Audrey started another round of chemotherapy today. With that said, we have started to discuss what chemotherapy will look like over the next year. With Audrey's relapse, we are now at a point where we just take things day by day and continue to pray for guidance and wisdom for what is best for Audrey. Right now we are just seeing how each cycle plays out which is Mondays, 2 weeks on, one week off, each month. That will help us determine what Audrey is able to tolerate while still being able to do what she loves and enjoys.

We don't know what the future holds for Audrey and our prayer continues to be for complete healing and that Audrey would ultimately be cancer free. We don't know what the Lord's response is at this point, but we trust in his plans for Audrey and our family. One thing that God has taught us through this season has been to cherish the day for what it is. We of course need to make plans for the future, but they may not what we had in mind. We have seen how God's plans for us have shaped us and are always better than our own when we are seeking Him. That's why trusting and having hope in his promises, help us to continue to have strength because of Jesus and what he did for us. Spring is such a beautiful celebration of New Life because of Christ.
"Biblical hope is faithful, indestructible life-changing, and the gift from a loving powerful God" -Mary Carver

Also, the referral for Audrey's cataract removal has been requested, so we will wait for that process to unfold. We ask that you continue to pray over this and for wisdom and guidance with making decisions with further chemotherapy. We pray that through this God would be glorified.

A praise we'd like to celebrate is we recently had parent teacher conferences with Audrey's teacher and he said what a quick learner she is and at this point she is on track to graduate kindergarten this year. This is a huge praise considering how much school she has missed, but we have been so thankful she has been able to do things remotely and also be at school when she can. Audrey is tough, she is determined and she loves to learn. We are thankful for her fighting spirit; it comes for the Lord.

Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage: yes, wait for the Lord

Jesus remains the same 💛

On June 17th, we learned that the cancer Audrey has been battling for 5 years remains, this is after 2 years of chemo, 2 courses of radiation and local surgeries to remove it.  At this point her team has said there are no curative options. Chemotherapy and radiation could possibly slow the process down, but would likely pose more issues than help. Another extensive surgery could also slow down the process, but would only further complicate Audrey's eye and nose issues. We have decided to let Audrey enjoy life without intense medical intervention. We have had some tough decisions these last few weeks, and have cried tears, but have also been at peace with the fact Audrey's faith in Christ is strong. She has even spoken about heaven and our perfect bodies 💛 Audrey has been full of energy, playing, eating well and enjoying life as an 8 year old. While we don't know exactly what the future holds or the timeline, we will rest in the fact that Jesus is the same yesterday, today ...

Praises and Updates

Audrey has been doing well! She is in the middle of her second grade school year and still loves going to school :) She loves playing outside, crafting, reading, playing with dolls and Barbies. Audrey had her routine scans in December and the radiologist reported no evidence of cancer. Praise God! Recently, Audrey had a visit with the craniofacial team. It was determined that there is some air passing through her throat/nose which decreases her ability to be understood, so we will be pursuing a minor procedure in May. Her doctor said that the potential benefits are worth pursuing it. With that said, nothing is 100%, and there are side effects with the procedure as well...our prayer is that it would help.  Audrey's vision has been steady. Her left eye, where bone was removed is often more irritated, but it is improved with lubrication.  Audrey is a fighter and doesn't complain about much of anything. She has a positive attitude and a wonderful soul. We are thankful that even in...

Psalm 23

The  Lord  is my shepherd; I shall not want.   He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.     He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness f or his name's sake.- Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord continues to work in our family, encouraging us to focus on the day, the day that he has made and we can rejoice in that. He continues to prove his faithfulness, and even in a difficult season, he continues to provide; let us not confuse this by the world's standards, but by Lord's blessing of love, by disciplining our minds to focus faith.  Audrey is doing exceptionally well despite her diagnosis. Each day she is filled with happiness and an eagerness to do well in school. Audrey is looking forward to celebrating her 9th birthday and is planning what she'd like her special day to look like. We have met with the pediatric palliative care team and Audrey made a positive connection with the nurse. We ...
