Jesus remains the same 💛

On June 17th, we learned that the cancer Audrey has been battling for 5 years remains, this is after 2 years of chemo, 2 courses of radiation and local surgeries to remove it.  At this point her team has said there are no curative options. Chemotherapy and radiation could possibly slow the process down, but would likely pose more issues than help. Another extensive surgery could also slow down the process, but would only further complicate Audrey's eye and nose issues. We have decided to let Audrey enjoy life without intense medical intervention. We have had some tough decisions these last few weeks, and have cried tears, but have also been at peace with the fact Audrey's faith in Christ is strong. She has even spoken about heaven and our perfect bodies 💛 Audrey has been full of energy, playing, eating well and enjoying life as an 8 year old. While we don't know exactly what the future holds or the timeline, we will rest in the fact that Jesus is the same yesterday, today ...

Praises and Updates

Audrey has been doing well! She is in the middle of her second grade school year and still loves going to school :) She loves playing outside, crafting, reading, playing with dolls and Barbies. Audrey had her routine scans in December and the radiologist reported no evidence of cancer. Praise God! Recently, Audrey had a visit with the craniofacial team. It was determined that there is some air passing through her throat/nose which decreases her ability to be understood, so we will be pursuing a minor procedure in May. Her doctor said that the potential benefits are worth pursuing it. With that said, nothing is 100%, and there are side effects with the procedure as well...our prayer is that it would help.  Audrey's vision has been steady. Her left eye, where bone was removed is often more irritated, but it is improved with lubrication.  Audrey is a fighter and doesn't complain about much of anything. She has a positive attitude and a wonderful soul. We are thankful that even in...

October Update

Audrey has been great! She is doing exceptionally well, going to school, playing and crafting at home, weekly ballet and just overall a happy, content little gal. Audrey had an orthodontics consult back in September. She was referred, so we will begin seeing orthodontics as part of her medical team beginning early November. It sounds like the focus right now will be removing some teeth, but that is still to be determined. Audrey will have a speech consult towards the end of January. This will include a nasal scope to help determine where the air is passing through the pallate to potentially fix surgically. Lastly, Audrey will have her routine scans this December. There's a lot to be remedied and monitored, but we are just so thankful for Audrey's continued healing and the fact that she is thriving. We are thankful for each day, the little moments and the big ones too. Praising God for Audrey and our kids. We can remember in an ever changing world, Jesus remains the same, and we...

Praise the Lord

Audrey had routine scans and a check up yesterday. She did an amazing job sitting still for her MRI and was patient and calm with the various pokes she had. The oncologist called this morning and Audrey remains cancer free! We praise God for these results. There is a certain heaviness that can come with waiting for the results, but a friend sent a verse yesterday and it was a great reminder of God's truth: "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2 It is a wonderful promise to know we have salvation through Jesus. We are incredibly thankful for His sacrifice and can rest in Jesus' love for us. We know He loves Audrey very much. In the next month, we will go back down to the hospital to continue to check on the healing of Audrey's mouth. She has been doing great with everything. Audrey's endurance and character continues to show how the Lord has been th...

Surgery 4.27

Audrey has been doing so well. She is finishing up first grade, preparing for her ballet recital late May and loves playing outside with her siblings. We are incredibly thankful for Audrey's strength and her continued growth. Audrey will have surgery this Thursday, April 27th. We would appreciate your prayers over this day. For her surgeons, for a successful closure of the hole in her mouth, for her eyelid to close properly, and for a smooth recovery. We would be so grateful if this surgery improved/fixed all of those things. We are thankful for God's grace over the years through this journey and we continue to trust and lean on Jesus. We have seen the good works that come from Him. Thank you again for following along and praying for Audrey.  19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Surgery Scheduled

Audrey's surgery is scheduled for April 27th. This will be another attempt to close the holes in her mouth and fix her bottom left eyelid so it will cl We are thankful this is an option for her and we continue to pray this time, this surgery, would be successful. 13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 Thank you again for praying.

Our Prayer

Audrey had another full afternoon at the hospital. We met with several specialists to prepare for Audrey's future. The next big thing will be another surgery to attempt to close up the perforations in Audrey's mouth. The surgery is not a guarantee the holes will be permanently closed, but the doctors think it is worth another try. With the amount of  radiation Audrey has had, it makes things harder to heal. They will also try to release her eye lid, so it will close and will be less dry. The surgeon was thinking the surgery would be within the next month or two.  Audrey does very well with everything. We continue to pray for a successful, permanent intervention to close up the holes and for them to remain closed. We have learned a lot through these seasons and one thing for sure is to take things one step at a time. We know these things are temporary and while it seems to be something we continually repeat to ourselves, we know it's the truth. God's word teaches us to b...
